GFLI is reliant upon so-called ‘data providers’ for the population of the GFLI database. This is typically coordinated by individual companies, associations, NGOs, as well as by collaborations within the supply chain (without a legal entity).
Data projects allow the industry and/or research institutes to provide representative primary data, aggregated for a specific ingredient in a region or sector, in order to showcase the efforts of the industry to lower the emissions embedded in feed ingredients.
Through data projects, the GFLI database can offer more granular datasets through more regionalized ingredients and farm management practices, or a higher tier modelling approach considering the National Inventory Reports or IPCC standards, which in turn provides the sector the tools to make educated decisions.
