Announcement of the GFLI Database Launch Event
It is our pleasure to invite you to join us for this launch event, where you will have the opportunity to hear how the Global Feed LCA Institute (GFLI) will grow over the next years to fully support the feed and livestock sectors in our shared mission to achieve more sustainable, low-carbon animal protein production.
As we complete our transition phase and to kick-off our second fiscal year, we look forward to officially announcing the launch of the updated and improved GFLI Database as part of our first Annual Membership Meeting on 12 November 2020.
What can you expect?
GFLI Chair, Greg Downing, will begin with a brief introduction to GFLI, including the mission, vision and strategic focus during the Institute’s next phase. Technical Management Committee (TMC) Chair, Tom Battagliese, will share TMC’s work to safeguard the quality of the data and the workability of the database through their review and update of GFLI methodologies and procedures.
Participants will then be invited to engage with our esteemed invited panellists who will first share their unique perspectives about the feed and livestock sector’s collective advance toward achieving sustainable livestock production.
1. Dr. Camillo De Camillis, Livestock Environmental Assessment and Performance (LEAP) Manager, Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO)
2. Mr Roberto Betancourt, Board of Directors, Brazilian Feed Industry Association (Sindirações)
3. Dr. Wolfgang Trunk, Policy Officer, Animal Nutrition Unit (DG SANTE), European Commission
4. Dr. Martin Alm, Technical Director, European Fat Processors and Renders Association (EFPRA)
GFLI Vice-Chair, Nick Major, will wrap-up the session by sharing GFLI’s plans for strategic and sustainable growth. With the launch of the updated database, GFLI is well-positioned to make significant advances toward accomplishing its goal of being embraced as the global reference for Feed LCA Data by the public and private sectors, LCA researchers, industry, and governmental bodies.
