Reflecting upon our Annual Members Meeting last January, some achievements were shared that we cannot help but share with our wider community.
In 2025, GFLI invested substantially in strengthening the Institute’s foundation and futureproofing the road ahead. Among governance improvements, the GFLI Board of Directors approved the creation of an Executive Committee, supporting a more agile and efficient decision-making process. Reflecting the Institute’s growth, a new accounting system was implemented -enabling smoother invoicing workflows and improved banking oversight through structured monthly overviews.
Key achievements in 2025 included:
- The GFLI gained 7 new members (total: 46)
- GFLI was presented by Board members and the Secretariat at 11 conferences/events
- Organization of the first hybrid seminar hosted at the OECD, attracting 220 participants
- Organization of the first GFLI branded data webinar
- Continued outreach via public and members-only newsletter
- 385 new LinkedIn followers
Launch of Voices of GFLI
In 2025, we launched Voices of GFLI: a communication series designed to show – through real example – show organizations turn LCA data into practical sustainability action across the feed value chain. The series highlights recurring themes such as:
- Turning data into action: how harmonized data supports decision-making, target-setting, and credible reporting across products and supply chains.
- Transparency and comparability: why consistent metrics matter to create trust and enable meaningful benchmarking and improvement.
- Collaboration across the value chain: shared datasets and aligned methodologies as a foundation for progress – connecting industry initiatives, tools, and farmer-led innovation.
- Practical integration of GFLI data into tools and platforms: including how data can be embedded into solutions used by companies and stakeholders (e.g., sustainability platforms).
Throughout 2025, the Voices of GFLI series featured perspectives from Sustell (dsm-firmenich), Agrifirm, Kemin Animal Nutrition, FEFAC, the GFLI Chairman of the Board of Directors, and Cool Farm Alliance.
A few highlights from the series capture the spirit well:
- “Our goal at GFLI is to provide the feed sector with science-based data to measure and reduce the environmental footprint…” — Stefaan van Dyck, Chairman of GFLI
- “For us, it is important to have a reliable and independent database, such as GFLI… common guidelines — this fosters trust…” — Lode Verbruggen, Kemin
- “Collaboration across the value chain is essential if we want to make sustainability measurable, comparable, and actionable.” — Richard Profit, Cool Farm Alliance
Thanks again to all GFLI members who make our work possible, as well as those who use our database to enable meaningful and standardized comparisons in environmental footprints.
