U.S. Grains Council joins GFLI as member

New Global Feed LCA Institute (GFLI) Member: U.S. Grains Council, Export Market Developer for U.S. Corn, Sorghum and Barley Industry.

U.S. Grains Council www.grains.org is a non-profit and member-led organization that supports corn, sorghum and barley producers to develop international markets, enable trade and improve lives, promoting these U.S.-origin products across international food, feed and fuel supply chains.

While sustainable production practices have been at the core of U.S. corn, sorghum and barley production for decades, the U.S. Grains Council has recently begun to engage with key domestic and global stakeholders to align with emerging sustainability requirements across international supply chains. In these engagements, it has identified that having accurate, reliable and comparable sustainability data is essential to support decision making for companies trying to reduce the environmental impacts of their operations, and policymakers who are trying to define industry and global standards.

“The U.S. Grains Council has embraced a thoughtful and thorough approach to sustainability, and in that regard, there is a growing importance and need for trusted tools that allow the comparison of different feed ingredients using life cycle analysis (LCA) methodologies. That is why we have chosen to join GFLI, and contribute to the work in this space, to ensure the sustainability attributes engrained in U.S. corn, sorghum and barley production are adequately captured.’’ – Carlos Suarez, Manager of Sustainability, Policy and Innovation.

GFLI welcomes U.S. Grains Council as a GFLI member and we look forward to collaborate through the sustainability plans of the organization!
