The Global Feed LCA Institute (GFLI) announces that Schothorst Feed Research, an independent research company in the nutrition of farm animals contributing to a global sustainable livestock production chain via applied scientific research and innovation, validated feedstuff matrix, nutrient recommendations and independent consultancy, has joined the GFLI as of June 2024.
‘De Schothorst’ has been established in 1934 by animal feed cooperatives in The Netherlands to check the quality of feeds produced by individual members. Starting animal nutrition research for improved feed formulation, feed quality and better animal performance in 1938, the Institute is currently servicing more than 250 customers in the global animal feed and protein industry. Their ambition is to support and inspire partners to contribute to a sustainable livestock production chain by developing and implementing animal nutrition knowledge.
‘’Animal feed is responsible for 70% of the carbon footprint of animal proteins. GFLI provide us the certified impact values per feed material and using Certified LCA and footprint calculation tools we support our customers to formulate and optimize diets on basis of least cost in combination with least impact.’’ Wim Beeks, Manager Sales & Consultancy.
The GFLI welcomes Schothorst Feed Research as a member and look forward to the mutual goal of a more sustainable livestock production chain.
